Tax Day quotes:

April 15, 2005

The Militant Libertarian has a good set of quotes to read about taxes and our great tax country. The second Thomas Paine quote says it best:

"If, from the more wretched parts of the old world, we look at those which are in an advanced stage of improvement, we still find the greedy hand of government thrusting itself into every corner and crevice of industry, and grasping the spoil of the multitude. Invention is continually exercised, to furnish new pretenses for revenues and taxation. It watches prosperity as its prey and permits none to escape without tribute." -Thomas Paine

Taxation is not a form of social justice. We should not view taxation as a way to get even with rich people, Only as a way of funding the govt. Once you get past the class envy way of thinking then you can talk about a rational and limited system funding the operations of government. The graduated income tax which is in place does more harm than any good which ever could have come out of it.
